1979
The Beginning of Pumpui and Smiling Fish On November 1, 1979, Kuang Pei San Food Products Public Co., Ltd. was established with a registered capital of 2 million baht to produce and distribute sardines in tomato sauce under the “Pumpui” and “Smiling Fish” trademarks with a production capacity of 1 million cans per year.
1982
The First Launch of Flavored Canned FishFlavored canned fish products were launched, including fried fish with chili and seasoned chopped sardines under the “Larb Pla-Yim” brand, which has been a long-time favorite of Thai people.
1985
The First and Only Fried Baby Clams with Chilli on the Market The “Fried Baby Clams with Chili” product was launched, which has become popular until today, with its unique sweet-spicy and flavorful taste that distinguishes it from other products on the market.
1986
Fried Mackerels in Chilli Sauce The product “Fried Mackerels in Chilli Sauce” was launched and has been very popular, becoming the best-selling canned fish product of all time.
1994
The Change The production base was moved to a new area in Na Tham Nuea Subdistrict, Mueang District, Trang Province, on a 100-rai plot of land, with a production capacity of 130 million cans per year.
1996
To Receive H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to the New Factory Opening On December 17, 1996, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand graciously presided over the opening ceremony of the new factory and witnessed the production process with great interest. Her visit brought immense joy to the management and staff of the company.
2000
The Innovation of Crispy Baby Clam The company launched its first snack product in a packet, the “Crispy Baby Clam” snack, and was one of the first companies that made use of innovative production techniques that involved baking raw ingredients to create a tasty and crunchy snack, with a distinct flavor of baby clams. It is a nutritious and crispy snack that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and genders.
2011
Pumpui breaks world record in The GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS “Pumpui,” together with 115 students and professors from the International Program in Design and Architecture at Chulalongkorn University assembled the largest building made entirely of canned Pumpui products. A total of 270,000 cans of Pumpui products were used to build the new Parliament House, which was recorded in GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS in 2011.
2016
Expand New Product Categories: RTC & RTE To meet the demands of consumers, the company expanded its product line to include Ready-To-Cook (RTC) and Ready-To-Eat (RTE) products.
2022
Adding Flavor Opens Up Possibilities. If You Want Deliciousness, Just Open It. Four more flavors were added to the “Baby Clams” line, providing consumers with a variety of options to enhance the delicious taste of the baby clams. “Baby Clams” comes in five flavors: spicy fried baby clams (red), baby clams stir-fried with roasted chili paste (purple), baby clams stir-fried with basil (orange), baby clams stir-fried with drunken sauce (green), and grilled baby clams (yellow).
2023
Introducing New Products to Meet the Diverse Needs of Consumers A new product is launched, “Seasoned Fermented Fish Sauce” by Pumpui, made from 100% marine fish. A new, premium version of “Specially Selected Mackerel in Tomato Sauce” is released, using imported mackerel from Japan and specially selected ingredients. Additionally, “Crispy Baked Baby Clams” is made from baked baby clams’ meat without any flour added, providing a delicious and enjoyable taste without boredom.
